3rd Gen 4Runner Replacement Hatch Strut Brackets
The factory Toyota hatch struts are bushed with a nylon bearing on both ends. Although nylon is a great product for bearings, by itself (meaning, no glass or carbon matrix) it can not take the contact loads required of lifting the hatch continuously and will fail. Replacement bushing are not able to be sourced from Toyota without buying an entire strut assembly. A common fix is to replace with some newer nylon bearings from the hardware store, which works if your factory bracket is not damaged (mine was).
These brackets are machined from 6061 Aluminum and have metal bearings that are designed for high contact loads. The top bracket uses a self lubricated Oilite bearing, while the lower uses a bronze bushing (does not rotate that much). Each bracket also comes with plastic nylon washers to maintain a snug fit. To top it off, the base of each bracket is skinned with a thin UHMW insulator to keep the bracket from scratching the paint off the body when mounted.
Note: These are designed to fit Strong Arm replacement hatch struts. They MAY fit the factory struts, but as no one usually uses factory struts anymore, I decided to design around the better aftermarket replacement's
